St. Edward the Confessor Church was founded in 1978 in Indianapolis. As “Continuing Anglicans”, we seek to maintain the traditional worship, doctrine, and discipline that has been entrusted to us by our forebears in the Faith, and that has transformed souls for centuries. We trace our roots to the Christian communities that existed in the British Isles in the first century and to the mission of St. Augustine of Canterbury to the English People in the sixth century.
We adore the One God Who is Trinity and the Incarnate Word, Jesus Christ. We believe that His life-giving and atoning Passion, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension offer the sole hope of our salvation. We participate in His divine life through the Sacraments of the Church, chiefly in Baptism and the Holy Eucharist. We look forward to His return in power and great glory to judge the living and the dead. We know that “when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is” (1 Jn. 3:2).
Our worship style is “High Church”, meaning we use incense and bells every Sunday, and much of the service is sung or chanted. Check out our YouTube channel to see recordings of our worship.
We believe that no matter where you are or who you are (or who you have been), Christ’s grace, mercy, and love can transform you into the saint God created you to be.
St. Edward’s is located at 6361 North Keystone Avenue, on the north side of Indianapolis.
